Strand 4: HANDLING DATA

Chance or Probability

1. The Likelihood Of An Event

Sometimes, we want to find the likelihood that an event will occur or happen. The concept in Mathematics that helps us to determine this chance of an event happening is called Probability.

In this lesson, we will learn about events, types of events, that is certain events, uncertain or impossible events and possible events.

2. The Likelihood Of A Single Outcome Occuring

Consider the outcome of throwing a die. A die has six sides with numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, each on a side. We call each of these numbers a possible outcome in the event of throwing the die.

3. Expressing Probabilities As Fractions Or Percentages

Probabilities can be expressed as fractions, decimals, percentages, and/or ratios.

In this lesson, we focus on how to calculate probabilities and how to convert them to either a fraction, a decimal, a percentage or a ratio.
